The historical King Midas was a ruler of the ancient kingdom of Phrygia, which was located in what is now central Turkey, in the 8th century BC. The real king Midas is how people came up with the Midas Touch. He lived where there were gold deposits all over the place. 
 Midas is dated to have reigned around 738–696 BC. His rule marked a period when Phrygia was at the height of its power and influence.
Known for his wealth, Midas was associated with the gold deposits in the region, contributed to his legendary status in later myths. Archaeologically, Midas' wealth is suggested by the rich tombs found in the area, including the famous "Midas Mound" at Gordion, the capital of Phrygia.
Midas was also known for his other powers. These powers came supernaturally to him by a golden feathered bull. This bull spoke and told Midas how to pull the gold out faster and how to get others to do what he wanted. These rings both a size 10 hold the gold power from the wings of the bull.
