Les Prophéties de Merlin
The text was obscure and largely untranslated into English until a 2025 edition by John Matthews and Maarten Haverkamp, which provides the first full modern English version and commentary. It's a mix of prophetic riddles (often cryptic and allegorical, commenting on kings, wars, and future events) and narrative episodes drawn from earlier Merlin lore.
Merlin's Birth
The book includes a detailed account of Merlin's origin, drawing from classic Arthurian tradition (rooted in Geoffrey of Monmouth but expanded here).
Merlin is born as the son of an incubus (a demon) and a mortal human woman (often described as a princess or noblewoman deceived by the demon).
The demonic paternity grants him supernatural abilities from birth.
Remarkably, he is born already able to speak fluently as an infant.
There's an episode where his guardian or babysitter attempts to kill him (fearing his unnatural origins), but Merlin uses his innate magic to protect himself and escape harm.
He reveals his own parentage and demonstrates his powers early on, establishing his role as a prophet and wizard.
This origin story explains his hybrid nature: human enough to interact with the world but demonic enough to have extraordinary insight and magic.
Merlin's Powers
The text emphasizes Merlin's abilities as central to his character.
Prophecy-His primary gift—he delivers long, enigmatic prophecies about future kings, battles, betrayals, and the fate of Britain (and beyond). These are often in symbolic language (animals representing nations or rulers) and include both political commentary and mystical foresight.
Magic and Shapeshifting. He wields sorcery to influence events, protect himself, and manipulate outcomes (as seen in saving his own life as a child).
Knowledge of Hidden Things. Supernatural understanding of past, present, and future, allowing him to advise kings and reveal secrets.
Teaching magic, especially to women (the book highlights female characters who learn sorcery from him).
There is a lot more to this piece. He really enjoys teaching and giving to women. He has very close ties to the Holy Grail. While he does enjoy his women it’s because he feels they learn easier. He has no problem teaching men.
This is put in a ring. These rings are from BP and they run from 128.00 to over 300.00. I’m not charging for that here! You can look them up if you don’t believe me. The last ones I had I kept the price tags on them. These I got wholesale so no price tags but that’s what they cost. I’m showing one for women that he picked out but you can get one for men too by BP. It would be a thin band with small stones in a size 10 or 11.
